Local Efforts for Rhino Conservation
Protecting our local environment & Wildlife
- The rhino population was critically low in 1929, with possibly as few as 29 individuals worldwide
- Conservation efforts, specifically "Operation Rhino," spearheaded by Dr. Ian Player in the 1950s, led to the species' recovery
- All current rhino populations can trace their genetic lineage back to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (H.I.P.)
